La Bella 912 Elite Classical - 6th string (E) medium-high tension .043

I tried the La Bella Classical Elite basses due to the write-up of others attesting to the "squeakless" nature of the strings. I can now confirm what another reviewer said previously...while the strings are indeed as "squeakless" as one could possibly imagine, I was not thrilled with the tone. The strings are gold-wound rather than silver-wound. Not only do I prefer the brightness and punch of the D'Addario strings I usually play, I also thought that the La Bella medium-high tension strings (the only tension I could find on SBM website) felt too mushy under my right hand. If you value the elimination of the squeaks above all else, I think you'll love these strings, but they're not for me!
