La Bella 17 CLASSIC Nylon & Silver-Plated Classical Banjo Strings

I have recently enjoyed assembling old banjo components into playable banjos. 22 fret, and 19 and 17 fret instruments. These strings are excellent. As they are a five string set it gives the option of linear or re-entrant tuning. What I do is install first the low d and then when the wound string separates - inevitably - then I retune as re-entrant using the fifth string as a re-entrant d. I have used string buttons to secure the strings to the tail piece as I find the knot to tie a loop weakens the strings. I am very leased with these as they are stronger than the synthetic gut strings that many people use and the sound is mellow, though usually needs muting if playing in a ukulele group.

Just a couple days in but these have a good feel
And they sound good
The resonase of the strings seems a bit shorter than the Aquila equivalent
But Aquilas seem to have their own limitations

I like that these are more “floppy” the feel of strings is a preference. I use these strings plus the custom Labella set that Joel Hooks sells and they’re great strings I use them on all my antique banjos. Get a Joel hooks bridge too it’ll come to life

These just feel elegant on the fingers, and the sound is incredible. It's like getting a new instrument.
