Oasis introduced a new Smooth Wound Low G string made with a nylon core and a phosphor bronze wrap at the 2015 NAMM show in Anaheim, California. The smooth wound low G reduces or eliminates string noise and gives your instrument the beautiful mellow tone you expect from your ukulele.

Perfect Low G string for uke

I purchased a concert Kala solid mahogany ukulele and decided to swap out the high G that came with it for a low, smooth wound G. The Oasis . 031 is the perfect gauge. I had first tried an Oasis . 033 low G but found it was too 'present' when strumming. I'm sticking with the . 031.

Great Low-G Ukulele String

I put this on my 5-string tenor as the second G string. My previous one was a Southcoast string but it finally gave out. I found this one and it is a worthy replacement. Great sound and great feel.

Oasis low-G vs Worth Clear low-G

Installed on Magic Fluke koa tenor uke. I play primarily finger-style classical, jazz bossa style. So, my comments are relative to these factors, as well as my subjective impressions and skill level. I had previously installed a set of Worth Clear strings with a low-G but wasn't happy with the sound of the low-G. I purchased the Oasis wound low-G to try to get a better sound. The Oasis low-G sounded better (to my ears), with a fatter sound, and greater volume than the Worth fluorocarbon low-G.
But, I felt the Oasis didn't deliver much more punch, projection or sustain than the Worth low-G.
