Review by Jason G. on 10 Feb 2017 review stating Shearer's Scale Pattern Studies is the C.A.G.E.D. system in Notation. this book is mandatory for my collection! This was C.A.G.E.D. before there was a C.A.G.E.D. scale system; I believe this was written before the Segovia Scales system. This is the second copy I have bought (burned up my last one). What I like about Aaron Shearers scale system is: all musical notation, no fret board diagrams; how the melodic/harmonic minor modes relate to the major scales in music notation; Shearers five scale "Forms" as he called them in the 1940's are the same thing as C.A.G.E.D.; The fret board began to open up to me more when I associated the written note/scale "Forms" system with the fret board positions. Studies in all keys/positions that are practical for the guitar. As far as STB; the book was reasonable priced, arrived in a timely manner and as a bonus; it came in a zip lock cover.....very professional; I really appreciated that.
