Turina | Sonata para Guitarra Op. 61 for solo guitar

This edition, first published by Schott Music in 1932 is fingered by Segovia. Typical of Segovia's fingerings he phrases passages on various strings (or a single one) and positions to produce his desired tone colors. Not always the most simple or easiest way to finger a piece, but once learned they fall relatively easy under the hand--they worked for him! I rarely change his fingerings, unless he has a left hand stretch I find uncomfortable for me.
There are numerous videos on line of Turina's flamencoesque guitar works, so finding one for the Sonata should be easy. Turina wrote most of his compositions for the piano and composed various chamber works. Guitarists would do well to listen to what he wrote for other instruments to get fresh insight into interpreting his very Spanish sounding compositions. The Sonata is a challenging piece of music and this guitar repertoire war horse should do well with any audience.
