These strings did the trick. Took a $20 ukulele and made it sound great. After a few days, the tuning is holding well.

I'd rather support the local brick & mortar store, but I just can't see paying 60% more for Uke strings. Do yourself a favor and order two sets at a time to save on shipping. As far as the strings themselves are concerned, I've had them on my Kala Tenor Uke for about two weeks now and even though I've been playing every day they still haven't quite settled in and I have to re-tune more often than I think I should have to. But, this is only the third time I've restrung my uke, so it may be that as i get more experince I'll get to understand this whole process better. Having said all that, my uke definitely sounds more alive than it did before I put on the new strings. The four stars only because of my beginner level of knowledge regarding all things uke.

I wanted to love these. I've played them on some other ukes before and they do sound good and feel good under the fingers. However, two recent orders and many frustrations later, this is a comment for Aquila, not Strings By Mail. The "A" string broke on me twice on two different new sets, even before tuning up to pitch, even tuning up slowly, incrementally! Aquila claims these are much stronger, more durable, won't break from damage from the nut, frets or saddle (according to their package!), and yet they still broke on me brand new. So, Aquila needs to have much better Quality Control and give us / strings by mail credit or new replacements and improve their quality. Strings by Mail has excellent customer service and they helped me out but Aquila needs to improve...and i say this because i actually like Aquila strings from past experiences, and they do sound good on certain ukes, so it would be a shame to stop using their strings because quality has gone down.

These strings are awesome in my opinion. Incredible tone......period. As long lasting as most other strings, with a good feel, and no squeak with sliding fingers. I love them.
