D'Addario Pro Arte J4603C - 3rd string (g) Composite .037

I started incorporating the Composite G string about a year or so after beginning my classical guitar studies. Having played acoustic guitar previously, I never liked the mushy sound of the nylon G string and this modification to my preferred set of classical guitar strings my preference.

My review is not complete at this time. The composite 3rd string definitely has a better tone than the ordinary 3rd string that come in the the Labella 900b sets . However, I am going to test the Thomastik flat wound 3rd to see if that has an even better tone.

Best invention since the nail file.

Virtually every classical nylon string guitar has a 3rd string that's a little less lively and a little less loud than the others. I got a tip from a classical player a few years ago that using a composite string for just the 3rd string would alleviate this problem, and it does. I don't like entire sets of composite strings because they don't have the sweetness in tone that non-composite sets have, but if you just change the 3rd string, it makes everything sound even and perfect. Manufacturers should consider coming out with a complete set that includes a composite 3rd.

This provided a definite sound improvement over the nylon string that I was using.
