The wound strings, that's what they do. Break. You don't even have to be touching them. They'll unravel right in the case. The least durable string I've tried on any instrument, with the possible exception of Gold Tone's set for their 4-string cello banjo.

Until the day they moved to that farm in the country to play with all the other D'addario strings, these sounded so sweet on my Favilla, with just the right balance of projection and warmth. If they didn't break so quickly I don't know that I'd be motivated to try anything else. If you change strings frequently, these might be right for you. BTW, I bought these elsewhere, a couple of sets. Today I'm picking up a fistful of alternatives.

I love these strings on my baritone uke. Just the right balance of tone and durability. They also seem to stay in tune a bit faster than other brands I've tried.

The nylon vs the wound strings have different tensions and tonalities. Felt like two halves of a set rather than a balanced combination. IMHO.
