As most ukulele fans know, Dirk Wormhoudt of Southcoast Strings passed a number of years ago and the company is no longer in business. Southcoast had a dedicated following. With the help of a Southcoast strings fan, we have created the “Southcoast” Linear Baritone double set. The set is composed of the same materials and sizes used in the original set.

Great sound & playability but fragile G string.

Less than a month ago, I replaced a six-month-old set of Galli Baritone strings on my Jupiter Baritone with an Oasis Southcoast set. I went to pick it up this morning, and guess what? Yep, the "G" string self-destructed once again. Never again! I really like the sound and playability of the Southcoast set, but they don't sound and play well with broken strings.

The strings were great until. . .

I purchased a "double length" set of Oasis GPX Clear Fluorocarbon "Southcoast" Ukulele Strings (Baritone). They sounded great and felt great. However, the 3rd "G" string broke a couple of weeks after restringing. A 3rd string breaking - versus, say, a 1st string - seemed odd, but "No trouble," I thought, there's a spare because it was a "double length" set. Unfortunately, the second "G" string broke a few weeks after replacing the first one. Until they broke, it would've been a 5-star review.

Oasis Fluorocarbon Uke Strings

This is my 3rd set. It appears that the problem with the "G" breaking has been resolved. The strings are bright and very loud they sound great on my KLOS baritone ukulele.

My go to Baritone strings, except G keeps breaking

I make ukuleles and prefer the Oasis Southcoast for the sound at that price. However when one string breaks you either buy one string for the same price as a set, or replace the whole set. Customers prefer the wound strings but it makes me look bad to send an instrument and have a string break. May go with Gallistrings for a little more money and a great sound as well.
