These are quite nice strings
Review by Richard on 23 Jan 2024 review stating These are quite nice strings I find these quite nice, once you get past an intial sort of chalky feeling under the fingers. I wipe my palm on the strings up and down the fretboard and that seemed to improve the feel. After a few weeks I don't notice any issues at all wiht playing these. These strings sound good and play well for me. I've tried them on two sopranos and one concert with good success. I did have a C string pop in the case once on a concert ukulele. I have heard that that has hapoened to others as well. As noted in another review these are much like the Aquila carbon black strings that were discountinued, probably due to the deal with Martin. I find these strings have good tone, reasonable sustain, are a bit thinner than some other Aquila strings, and have lasted over a month so far wihtout degradation- except for the one string that broke when the ukulele was in the case. And no, it wasn't wound too tight- like most I use a headstock tuner. I'm a long-time amatuer strummer and have tried a lot of strings over the years and if I didn't have a string pop, I might have given these 5 stars. Martin knows string instruments well, so if they're willing to put their name on these I take some confort in that. Pkus, I really like that Aquilar as a firm and that they are constantly investing in string technology. Thank Aquila and Martin :-).
