Pepe Romero Guilele Fluorocarbon Strings UG1

I like these strings just fine for their sound, with my Gretsch G9126 six-string Uke-Guitar, although I think they are a little expensive.

HOWEVER: I just wanted to let folks know that if your instrument is like mine, set for stringing with single slots for each string (rather than set up like a classical guitar) the obvious choice would be a set with ball ends. These do not have ball ends.

I did not anticipate that a "guilele" set would require a proper classical guitar stringing arrangement, so I have ended up tying double knots and hoping they hold.

Also, for some reason the trebles are much shorter than the basses. Both trebles and basses were adequate length for my little instrument, but it might be good to be aware of that. I don't think the lengths are listed here in the description.

These strings made my $100 Yamaha sing like Pavarotti. Seriously, these will take your sound and sustain to a whole new level. The sympathetic vibrations are absolutely unreal.

I love Strings By Mail! They have always delivered on time and been friendly. I've ordered many strings from them (Usually for ukes) with great satisfaction. However, I recently ordered a set of Pepe Romero strings for my guitalele, which I found a little disappointed and overpriced. Two of the braided strings unraveled at the end when I barely pulled them, and the sound is no better than the stock strings I replaced them with. I definitely will not be buying these strings again. But again, for other needs, Strings By Mail is my go to resource! Another quick note of concern: when I asked a question regarding using a different kind of string for this guitalele, the answer was essentially, "I don't know. Buy them and see, and then let us know." I don't think I ought to have to pay to do their research for a company. But as I say, all in all, I love doing business with this company and heartily recommend them to anyone wanting strings.

I use the Pepe Romero UG1 and UG2 string sets on my Pono guileles. The fluorocarbon strings have a great tone and sustain. I use these exclusively.
