This Aquila Guilele Strings set is specifically designed for the Guilele (guitalele or guitarlele) that has a scale length of about 17 inches with six strings.

A unique look and a strong, consistent sound. Until now, it was necessary to increase a string’s gauge to reach lower frequencies. But increasing the string’s diameter also increases the internal dampening. That makes the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled: the thicker the string, the duller the sound.

Aquila's revolutionary approach —never introduced before— changes the specific weight of each treble string in order to compensate this loss of acoustical properties. This way, the diameter variation among each string is considerably smaller, allowing the instrument to sound brighter, more powerful and more responsive through the entire range of the fretboard, especially over the 12th fret. The strings also keep a better intonation thanks to the reduced diameter variations. Until today, this result was reached only with harps, where the scale of the strings is continuously varied in order to limit the dampening issue.
