Pyramid Gold Chrome Nickel Flat Wound Round Core True Vintage 13-56

As close to the 1950s original Fender tone as possible today. I think.

I put some GHS Nickel Rockers on an acoustic archtop and they sound great. I thought if I could find nickel flatwounds I could use them on an acoustic guitar. I hoped these Pyramid flatwounds would work. My first disappointment is that they are not really what I call flatwounds. They’re a bit rough; not like Chromes which are really smooth. They have a wrap at the ball end which looks nice but didn’t want to fit into my tailpiece. And lastly, they are not very long. The ‘g’ started winding on the core wire. Maybe it doesn’t make a difference but that’s really short. I was hoping to put these on my Epiphone with the Frequensator tailpiece which requires really long strings. But the strings do sound good and they’re nicely made. They just were not everything I hoped for.

I wish I was such that I Bought more strings/used more strings, cuz Strings by mail Staff is top notch. I'm Lil biased, I'm in lower Michigan, but I love the thought of a sought after company in Northern Michigan.

Incredible strings!

These are probably the smoothest flats I've ever tried and when they are brand new, they have a surprisingly bright sound akin to pure nickel strings which was a pleasant surprise for me. They start to mellow over a week or so and become nice and warm. I bought a set 1 and half years ago, and they still feel and sound fabulous. A great investment.
