while i have not had these strings on for very long, i can say that they are my favorite gut string option when playing with nails. i do keep my nails filed smooth and may be shorter than most players, but the nail still makes contact with the string and i have noticed ZERO fraying of the trebles from my nails. the sound is exactly what you want from a gut string: deep and mello with beautiful sustain. they are also plenty loud. love them so far and definitely feel like i will buy more in the future!

As a retired harp luthier I have installed and played on a lot of gut strings; they are the standard strings for pedal harpists. When I started learning to play a guitar the sound of most nylon strings was displeasing to me. The change to gut and silk strings gives me the warm, rich sound that I enjoy, even though I have only a beginner’s skill. I found that these gut strings retain their good sound longer than the nylon strings that I have tried.
The downsides include the sensitivity to high humidity that goes with all natural strings and the need to play without nails to prolong string life. To me the ability to achieve the sound that pleases me is worth the cost.
A tip for someone trying these strings: with a little use they tend to squeak, actually more than harp strings. The cure was to lightly sand the area from the bridge to the fretboard with a fine abrasive paper. I used 400 grit and the squeak disappeared.

It is my first set of gut strings. After reading numerous reviews about gut strings and their potential defects, I was a little concerned when unpacking the package. However, my strings arrived in perfect condition, with no defects whatsoever. The feel of the strings is very pleasant, and they produce a rich, warm sound on my average guitar. Furthermore, they maintain their tuning for a long time after a couple of weeks.

Customer care excellent. In the process of installing the strings the E string broke. A simple email to them resulted in a quick apology and in a couple of days I received another E string … no charge of course!
