Creator Description: This is a very lyrical and warm sounding set that works well with my guitar. The La Bella 900 basses are the most squeak-free strings that I've found, with much less string noise than the D'Addario EJ51 Recording strings or EJ45LP/EJ46LP Lightly Polished Pro Arte series. The basses are made of a gold alloy, which has a warmer sound than the usual silver silver-plated copper. The tone lends itself nicely to lyrical and expressive playing. They do, however, have less of the crisp, biting sound that new silver wound basses have. Players who love the sizzle of brand new basses might hate these strings and describe them as dead sounding.

The Hannabach trebles work better for me than the La Bella trebles, and balance better with the La Bella 900 basses than the various D'Addario and Savarez trebles I've tried. These strings produce a clear tone that takes vibrato well and complements the warm sound of the polished gold alloy basses. Together, the Hannabach 815 trebles and La Bella 900 basses make a great set for expressive playing and recording.
