Augustine Gold - 6th string (E) .0445

I've been experimenting with improving the low E string on my nylon crossover (Taylor Academy 12e-N). I don't know what strings the guitar came with, but they felt like normal tension. The Augustine was one of three different hard tension strings I ordered to try out.
I've only been playing guitar for 4 years, so it's still tricky for me to describe when something doesn't sound right...the Augustine string was the first one I put on, and it sounded muted or muddy(?) and didn't blend well with the other bass strings. I took it off right away and tried a different one (D'Addario Pro Arte hard tension) and it sounds great.
So make of it what you will...I'm aware of the solid reputation Augustine has, and I'm not trying to bash anyone. Just sharing my experience of that particular string, as it sounded on my guitar.
