D'Addario Hybrid Carbon G/B Clear Nylon E HT Guitar Strings Treble Set

I’ve used this hybrid combination in the normal tension variety and liked them. This was the first time I’ve used the hard tension version and was disappointed. The carbon B string was out of place tension wise between the top E and G strings to the point where it almost felt floppy. Sound wise it also sounded too quiet as well. Almost as if it was a normal tension string put into a hard tension set. I had a set of high tension nylons that I had taken the high E string from previously and took the B string from that set to replace the carbon string. Essentially made the set offered with a carbon G and plain nylon B and E. The guitar plays and sounds great now. I’ll always wonder if the wrong string was used, seemed really odd. The feel was not linear at all.

Prior to installing these strings on my guitars, a Yamaha GC32 and Cordoba Negra Pro, I used the standard Pro-Arte hard tension and then Pro-Arte hybrid G sets. The set with the carbon G strings was much better in resolving the "tubbiness" of the G string. Out of curiosity tried this set and I love the strings on both guitars. The tone is so much clearer from both the G and B strings. Both guitars have always been a joy to play but the hybrid carbon string set takes their tone to a new level.
