DR Strings RCA-11 SUNBEAM Round Core Acoustic Guitar Custom-Lt 11-50

Just right for my myrtle Breedlove with the swap of an .016 second string, which I had already ordered from here at the same time on spec. My new favorites for this guitar so far, w/ great string to string balance.

volumne...Will order next gauge up...

My introduction to DR Strings was the Veritas for acoustic series. I had been happily playing a competitors strings, which are quite good, and saw an article in which Stefan Grossman claimed to be getting extended playing time from the new Veritas set. I respect Stefan’s playing and opinion so gave them a try. That was all it took for me to switch to DR. I played my first set for close to 3 months and only changed them because I felt obligated to after that long a time. They still sounded pretty good and still intonated well. I was reading about how round core strings could feel a bit more flexible so decided to try the Sunbeam 11-50’s on 1936 Kalamazoo KG-14. The necks on these prewar beauties have no truss rod and 12’s were pulling a bit too much relief into the fingerboard. The Sunbeam’s feel great and I can feel the increased flexibility. They’re durable like my Veritas sets. I have the 12-54’s on another guitar so I can compare the same gauge, hex wound with round and the round wound are more flexible and I like their sustain. I’ve been happy with any DR strings I’ve tried, but I’m favoring the round wound sets for my aging hands.
