Oasis GPX+ Carbon HT/NT Classical Guitar Strings GX1000N, Full Set

My guitar tends to heavily favor the bass strings for volume. This set helps to balance the volume between bass and treble and produce good volume and tone.

Good strings, couldn't find at a local store so I bought at SBM.

I really like these strings. They are very crisp and clear. And it allows me to play with more dynamic range.

I put Oasis GPX+ on my beater guitar and was amazed at the sound. tuning by harmonics was so easy because it seemed the harmonic notes went on and on and sounded so crisp and clear. The strings sustain notes very nicely and have the kind of tone that makes me want to play more and more. That's a great set of strings! I can't wait to put these on my Pimentel and will surely buy these again. I'm totally sold on carbon trebles with Sostenuto bass.

These strings sound pretty great. They also settle very quickly. I put them on last night and very briefly stretched them until the tuning seemed pretty stable. Then I put it away in the case overnight, only to find that they had all dropped about 1/4 tone overnight. That's pretty good compared to Savarez Alliance, for example, which can sometimes take a week or more for the tuning to really stabilize. These strings also have great intonation. They're on the brighter end of things, which really helps bring balance to the characteristics of my instrument.

There are a few things I'm not too keen on with these. First, during the stringing process, the high-E kept slipping at the roller. This is not a problem I've had with other brands. I thought the whole thing was about to fly off a few times, and I had to undo everything and re-tie it. Next, the G string, and to a lesser extent, the B string, sounded really tubby initially. The high-E always sounded bright. The tubbiness of the other two seems to have settled down overnight. But the final issue I have with these, and it's the biggest, that the mixture of tensions just feels really weird when playing. I also bought a set of just high-tension, which I will be switching to. The trebles feel harder than Alliance, but the basses are really bouncy and don't snap back as quickly as I'm used to with other sets. This means that you need to have a different left-hand approach for the trebles and the basses. I prefer sets where I can use relatively the same touch on all of the strings and have them respond similarly. This set makes me have somewhat exaggerated left-hand motion with the basses and a smaller but more forceful touch with the trebles. It really makes you think about which string you're on for any given note. What I will say is that the NT basses don't feel floppy the way that some do, they're just very bouncy and travel a lot vertically. I'm looking forward to giving the all-HT set a try.
