I had bought the 13’s for my floating pickup archtop. I wasn’t thrilled initially. They were not flat, they’re smooth but round, they are unusually short and, they are really fat where they are wrapped but I’ve come to like their acoustic sound. They a a bit dark but they have volume and great sustain. I bought an acoustic archtop that I found to be bright. I thought these strings might help that and they did. They are slightly dark but a big improvement over the PBs and with plenty of volume. I may try them on a flat top on which I usually use monels. They are very nice strings. They are beautifully smooth but they are short and fat at the ball end and might be too dark especially if you’re looking for something with a normal level of brightness.

They have an odd slightly rough finish while still being flat wounds. Most noticeable on the low E. Just playing them acoustically they sound very even though and string tension seems to be very consistent from string to string. It’s not rough on the fingers and noise squeak is greatly reduced. I’m hoping these will become my new “go to’s” instead of the George Benson’s which feel a little uneven weight and tension-wise to me (although very nice and smooth on the fingers).
